Steve Anderson is a Senior Consultant based out of Decision Strategies’ Houston office. Using creative and unique solutions, he has worked for over 30 years in exploration, development, commercialization and new ventures covering many of the oil and gas provinces in the world. Steve’s areas of expertise include international contracts, business and strategic planning, benchmarking, portfolio optimization, decision and risk analysis, economics, finance, negotiations, and supply chain management. He also has a wealth of project management and operations experience. In addition, Steve has guided multinational, multi-company teams through complex operational and financial decisions.
Significant Contributions
- Valuation and project finance evaluation of numerous independent PPA-based international power projects in Costa Rica, India, and China.
- Acquisition and subsequent profitable divestiture of power plants in the Philippines, which were transitioning from PPAs to a merchant dispatch basis.
- Valuation of a gas-powered independent merchant generation portfolio in the ERCOT system
- Monitoring and valuation of a gas-powered independent merchant generation portfolio in Argentina
Significant Contributions
- Mentors and coaches employees for a major oil company
- DA Advisor for major LNG project implementing a full value change evaluation approach to optimize the LNG plant configuration
- Evaluated drilling risks in deepwater GOM for wells nearing technology limits
- Established processes to evaluate Nigerian deepwater portfolio of opportunities, each of which involved upfront commitments in excess of $100M
- Provided financial expertise and support during negotiations with National Oil Company regarding production sharing agreement terms and with partners regarding unitization terms
- Evaluated multiple alternatives to help a major oil company optimize its deep gas portfolio strategy under very tight time constraint. Involved 142 individual prospects in the Gulf of Mexico Shelf area with various contractual terms
- Evaluated marine options for international LNG loading facility. Demonstrated that the commercial success of the project was more probable than perceived by part of the team, thus allowing the team to make the decision to proceed with the project
