Patrick Leach has over thirty years of experience in industry and consulting, ranging from New Orleans to Indonesia, Scotland, and now Houston. He joined Decision Strategies Inc. in 2004 as a Senior Consultant, and became CEO of the company in August of 2011. He is the author of Why Can’t You Just Give Me the Number? – An executive’s guide to using probabilistic thinking to manage risk and to make better decisions, which is now out in its second edition. He was also a Distinguished Lecturer during 2012-2013 for the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), and he has written numerous pieces in his blog, The Decision Point, regarding the need to move toward sustainable business practices, and how to use the principles of Decision Analysis and behavioral economics to develop strategies to do so.

Pat has a B.S. in Geomechanics from the University of Rochester and an MBA from the University of Houston. He is a Charter Fellow in the Society of Decision Professionals, and holds memberships in the International Society of Sustainability Professionals, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, the Decision Analysis Affinity Group, and the Institute for Operations Research and Management Science.

Pat has spent ten years overseas – four in Indonesia and six in Scotland. He was a gymnast in high school and college, and as an adult he enjoys bungee jumping and skydiving. He has even dabbled in amateur dramatics and directed a number of plays and videos.
