Senior Consultant
Pat Burdett is a Senior Consultant and Engagement Leader with Decision Strategies. An expert in risk management and strategy development in highly uncertain business environments, he has extensive experience in the valuation, development, project financing, acquisition and divestiture of U.S. and international power generation projects. He has guided decisions in many phases of multi-billion dollar oil & gas developments, from exploration, through appraisal and concept selection. He is as comfortable working with exploration geologists and reservoir engineers, as treasury analysts and production process engineers.
Pat is a CFA charter holder with an extensive background in financial analysis and contractual structuring; he has added millions of dollars in value to clients’ projects by clarifying the probable impact of various strategic options. To do this, he makes use of a wide skill set, including accurate contractual modeling and structuring, stochastic and value-of-information analysis, as well as ‘softer’ contributions such as facilitation of project framing and interviewing of experts for uncertain inputs.
Significant Contributions
- Valuation and project finance evaluation of numerous independent PPA-based international power projects in Costa Rica, India, and China.
- Acquisition and subsequent profitable divestiture of power plants in the Philippines, which were transitioning from PPAs to a merchant dispatch basis.
- Valuation of a gas-powered independent merchant generation portfolio in the ERCOT system
- Monitoring and valuation of a gas-powered independent merchant generation portfolio in Argentina
